The journal also covers various themes of microbiology including biochemical, molecular genetics, physiological and also physical investigations into microbial cells and their interactions with their environments, including their eukaryotic hosts. The journal also focuses on medical microbiology, immunology, ecology and systematic, including description of novel taxa. The journal covers all aspects of microbial cells that include prokaryotes, eukaryotes and various viruses, along with the fields of general, medical and applied microbiology and virology.
