Original article: Alexis Madelyn-Adjei., et al. "A Pharmacokinetic and Brief Outcomes Study of Plant-Derived Iron in Healthy and Iron Deficient Anemic Adults". EC Nutrition 21.6 (2026): 01-09. Received: July 06, 2026; Published: August 30, 2026.
The authors wish to make the following corrections to the above article.
The third sentence reads: "Within-group changes from baseline to end of study were assessed using paired t-tests or nonparametric equivalents where appropriate”.
It should read: "Within-group changes from baseline to end of study were assessed in participants who completed the study using paired t-tests or nonparametric equivalents where appropriate”.
The paragraph reads: "A total of 30 participants received SloIron®, 15 healthy subjects and 15 subjects with IDA. All participants completed the in-unit PK assessment, and with at-home dosing. No protocol deviations affecting PK or biomarker interpretation were identified”.
It should read: "A total of 30 participants received SloIron®, 15 healthy subjects and 15 subjects with IDA. All participants completed the in-unit PK assessment. Three participants, two in the healthy cohort and one in the IDA cohort, did not complete the at-home dosing period and were excluded from the end-of-study analysis. The 30-day analyses therefore include 13 healthy and 14 IDA participants. No protocol deviations affecting PK interpretation were identified”.
The baseline serum iron values in this section are corrected to match the participants who completed the study, consistent with correction 4.
In the first paragraph, the text reads: "…mean serum iron increased from 48.7 ± 26.0 µg/dL at baseline to 55.1 ± 28.5 µg/dL at end of study…"
It should read: "…mean serum iron increased from 45.2 ± 26.1 µg/dL at baseline to 55.1 ± 28.5 µg/dL at end of study…"
In the second paragraph, the text reads: "Mean serum iron increased from 42.7 ± 19.5 µg/dL at baseline to 75.6 ± 30.4 µg/dL at end of study”.
It should read: "Mean serum iron increased from 41.7 ± 19.8 µg/dL at baseline to 75.6 ± 30.4 µg/dL at end of study”.
In the published table 2, the baseline values were calculated from all 15 participants in each cohort, whereas the end-of-study and change-from-baseline values were calculated from the participants who completed the study (13 healthy and 14 IDA). The baseline column has been recalculated on the participants who completed the study. The end-of-study values, change-from-baseline values and P-values are unchanged. The corrected Table 2 appears below; the corrected column is shown in bold.
(Table 2)
The statement reads: "There was no funding for this study”.
It should read: "This study was funded by SloIron, Inc., Walnut Creek, California, USA”.
These corrections do not change the statistical results or the conclusions of the article. The authors apologize for any inconvenience caused.
