Biography

Prof. Andrea Oviedo-Sánchez has studied Psychology at the University of La Sabana in Chía, Colombia. She obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Neuropsychological Assessment and Diagnosis and her Master's Degree in Neuropsychology at the University of San Buenaventura (USB) in Bogotá, with a thesis focused on neuropsychological and psychophysiological differences in cognitive and affective empathy in adults with and without traumatic brain injury. She is currently a full-time professor at USB, where she teaches courses in neuropsychology, psychophysiology, neuroanatomy, and neuroscience, as well as cognitive processes such as attention, memory, language and reasoning, and ethics in psychology. Andrea has experience as a clinical neuropsychologist focusing on the diagnosis, assessment, and rehabilitation of patients with and without brain injuries such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, tumors, infections, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases like multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and dementia. Andrea has been a Editorial Board of ECronicon Psychology and Psychiatry member since 2021.

Research Interests

Prof. Andrea Oviedo-Sánchez has been interested in the neuropsychology of dementias such as Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, and Parkinson's disease. Neuropsychology of brain injury, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, tumor, and epilepsy. And neuropsychology and psychophysiology of hunger, thirst, sleep, sex, and emotions.
