This article presents data from studies of the sorption characteristics of an innovative metal-containing sorbent, polymethylsilsesquioxane-zinc, which belongs to the class of enterosorbents.

Studies using classical BET and dye sorption methods revealed the sorbent's unique, almost completely mesoporous structure with a surface area of approximately 250 m2 and significant absorption capacity for model substances.

This mesoporous structure allows for the sorption of most medium-molecular toxins. The virtually complete absence of micropores suggests the inability to sorb and remove trace elements and small molecules (e.g., vitamins), which is crucial for enterosorbents as such.

polymethylsilsesquioxane-zinc joins the class of enterosorbents with defined physicochemical properties, distinguishing it from other representatives of this class. The article discusses the mechanisms for possible modification of the sorbent structure in the presence of zinc.
