The pro-antioxidant parameters (conjugated dienes, Schiff bases) and total amount of nitrites and nitrates (NOx) were investigated in rabbits during hepatic ischemia (30 minutes) and reperfusion (120 minutes). We determined that the sodium nitroprusside, NO donor, infusion in reperfusion period decreases the lipid peroxidation activity and increases the NOx in blood and liver, suggesting about prevalent protective role of NO during hepatic reperfusion.
