Panther cap (Amanita pantherina) and fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) mushrooms contain the psychoactive compounds ibotenic acid and muscimol, which are responsible for acute poisoning. Laboratory testing, including chemical-toxicological analysis, is a mandatory component of clinical laboratory diagnostics. At present, fly agaric poisoning is diagnosed primarily on the basis of medical history. Therefore, the development of a laboratory diagnostic algorithm for biological specimens in suspected fly agaric intoxication is of considerable importance.
