Biotechnology is revolutionizing dentistry by enhancing diagnostics, treatment, and prevention. This review highlights key advancements and prospects in dental biotechnology. Stem cell therapy, utilizing dental pulp, periodontal ligament, and exfoliated deciduous tooth stem cells, shows promise for tissue regeneration. Scaffolds and biomaterials, particularly hydrogels, are crucial in supporting this regeneration. Biomimetic materials, which replicate natural dental tissue properties, improve the durability and aesthetics of restorations. Bio ceramics, such as calcium phosphate, are widely used in endodontics for their biocompatibility and bioactivity. Genetic engineering holds potential for treating hereditary dental disorders, while DNA-based diagnostics enable early detection of oral diseases through advanced techniques like PCR and next-generation sequencing. Nanotechnology enhances dental materials' performance and aesthetics, with nanorobotics offering future possibilities for precise, minimally invasive dental procedures. These biotechnological advancements are set to significantly improve the quality of dental care, offering enhanced precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes. As research continues, the integration of biotechnology in dentistry promises to usher in a new era of advanced, patient-centered dental care.
