The pancreatic localization of hydatid cysts is rare, even in countries where hydatid disease is endemic, accounting for less than 1% of all cases. The often insidious symptoms, which develop over a long period, depend on the location of the hydatid cyst. This can explain the diagnostic challenges, as it can be easily confused with other cystic lesions of the pancreas.

The diagnosis was made on the basis of an abdominal CT scan, which revealed a cystic mass in the tail of the pancreas.
